Chapter 8. अक्षरब्रह्मयोगः akṣara-brahma-yogaḥ Yoga of imperishable Brahman
अग्न‍िर्ज्योतिरह: शुक्ल‍ः षण्मासा उत्तरायणम् ।
तत्र प्रयाता गच्छन्ति ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविदो जना: ॥ २४ ॥
agnir jyotir ahaḥ śuklaḥ ṣaṇmāsā uttarāyaṇam
tatra prayātā gacchanti brahma brahmavido janāḥ ॥ 24 ॥

Перевод: Fire, light, daytime half of the day (agnir jyotir ahaḥ), Śukla-pakṣa (bright half of a lunar month), six months of Uttarāyaṇa (Northern path of the Sun from December 21 to June 20) (śuklaḥ ṣaṇ-māsā uttarāyaṇam) - people who died at this time (tatra prayātā janāḥ), having realized Brahman (brahma-vido), go to Brahman (gacchanti brahma).

धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्ण: षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम् ।
तत्र चान्द्रमसं ज्योतिर्योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥ २५ ॥
dhūmo rātris tathā kṛṣṇaḥ ṣaṇ-māsā dakṣiṇāyanam
tatra cāndramasaṁ jyotir yogī prāpya nivartate ॥ 25 ॥

Перевод: Smoke, night (dhūmo rātris), and also the Kṛṣṇa-pakṣa (dark half of a lunar month) and the six months of Dakṣināyana (the Southern Path of the Sun from June 21 to December 20) (tathā kṛṣṇaḥ ṣaṇ-māsā dakṣiṇāyanam) - a yogin [who died] at that time (tatra yogī), having reached the moonlight (cāndramasaṁ jyotir prāpya), returns (nivartate).

श‍ुक्ल‍कृष्णे गती ह्येते जगत: शाश्वते मते ।
एकया यात्यनावृत्तिमन्ययावर्तते पुन: ॥ २६ ॥
śuklakṛṣṇe gatī hyete jagataḥ śāśvate mate
ekayā yāty anāvṛttim anyayāvartate punaḥ ॥ 26 ॥

Перевод: These two paths, the light and the dark (śukla-kṛṣṇe gatī hy-ete), are considered eternal for the world (jagataḥ śāśvate mate) - by means of one (ekayā) [people] go to non-return (yāty anāvṛttim), by means of the other (anyayā) - they return again (āvartate punaḥ).
